Prevention Education Coordinator

The Prevention Education Coordinator will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and overseeing community and school-focused prevention education programs aimed at promoting public health, safety, substance abuse prevention, well-being and other emerging risk issues based on the needs of the schools and the community. The position requires collaboration with local agencies, schools, community groups and businesses to design and deliver prevention initiatives that address a range of social issues.

General Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify school and community needs and prioritize areas for prevention education efforts.
• Design, develop, and deliver engaging prevention education workshops, presentations, and trainings sessions of diverse audiences.
• Present to the community on various topics including, but not limited to, suicide prevention, adverse childhood experiences, law enforcement behavior health, poverty and victimization prevention programs.
• Conduct thorough research on various social issues, trends, and best practices in prevention education to inform program content.
• Adapt educational materials to meet the needs of the target community audience.
• Design, develop, and deliver engaging prevention education programs to meet the informational and service needs of schools.
• Conduct engaging classroom sessions, workshops, and interactive activities as established by the NorthCare Network prevention work plan for K-12 students.
• Facilitate NorthCare approved non-school based prevention programming as applicable.
• Facilitate Wyman TOP (Teen Outreach Program) curriculum.
• Stay informed about current trends and developments in prevention education, bringing innovative and evidence-based strategies to the school community.
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with community agencies, local government agencies and nonprofit organizations.
• Organize and facilitate community events, awareness campaigns, and outreach activities to raise awareness about prevention topics.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop evaluation frameworks and tools to measure program outcomes.
• Provide guidance and support to other staff, volunteers and community members involved in prevention education initiatives.
• Coordinate activities with other Community Outreach and Prevention Education Staff.
• Stay current with research and trends related to prevention education, health promotion, and community development.
• Complete all reporting requirements.
• Represent the agency on prevention coalitions, committees, and task forces as assigned.
• Attend all necessary training and required meetings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a human service field from an accredited college or university.
• Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills are necessary for success in this position.
• Valid Current Driver’s License
• Reliable Transportation
• Necessary car insurance to meet grant specifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience in developing and delivering adult education.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective teaching methodologies.
• Knowledge of suicide prevention and ACES.
• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with a diverse population.
• Passion for community development, public health, and creating positive social change.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders.

Typical Work Schedule

• 40 Hours Per Week. Some Evenings & Weekend Hours Required.


Position classification, wage scale and benefits

  • Full Time, Non-Exempt Position

Copper Shores is committed to offering a competitive compensation and benefit package including health, dental, vision, and prescription coverage along with a supplemental life and disability coverage; 401k contribution, paid time off, and a competitive salary that’s expected to be between $49,900 - $55,250, based on experience level.
